Different Types of Lace

Saturday, December 27, 2014

Who knew there were SO many different types of lace to choose from?? We are here to inform you of the most popular lace options for bridal gowns! Check it out!

Chantilly Lace

Chantilly lace is a handmade type of bobbin lace named after a city in France. This lace is known for its find around, outlined pattern and abundant detail. The outlined lace pattern is in cordonnet which is a flat untwisted strand of the lace. Chantilly lace used to be most popular in black silk in Spain and the Americas.

Venice Lace

Venice lace is a fine needlepoint lace that is firm and has no netting in the background. Venice lace is stitched onto a dis solvable fabric which is later removed which creates a delicate raised design. This type of lace is extremely popular for lingerie and designer fabrics.  Venice lace is going to have a higher price point due to its luxurious look and feel and that is why it is so popular in bridal gowns. Kate Middleton's dress had this gorgeous lace incorporated into it.

Alencon Lace

Alencon is a French needle lace, often referred to as the "Queen of Lace". It is the most elaborate of needlepoint lace that has ever been produced in France. This needlepoint lace has floral designs on a sheer net background that can be seen with or without beading or sequins.

Spanish Lace

Spanish lace, also known as Venetian needle lace, is typically used for church weddings. This type of lace refers to lace made in Spain. The Spaniards imported high volumes of Venetian needle lace for church use in the 17th century.

Unique Wedding Favors

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

One of the things every couple struggles with is what to give as favors for their wedding. It is a tough decision! Do we hand-make something? Do we go with generic favors? How do we make our favors unique? Wedding Inspirations is here to show you how to make the most unique favors for your wedding.

If your wedding is during the colder months consider a mocha or cocoa mixer in a cute class test tube with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips on top! These are easy to make and are convenient for guests to take home!

After an entire night of dancing and celebrating, your guests may need a little caffeine boost or customized midnight snack to get them ready to go home. You could fill little paper bags with popcorn, pretzels or other yummy goodies with a miniature bottle of your favorite drink!

Cold feet? These crazy sock patterns are sure to keep your guests feet nice and warm even after your cozy wedding. Grab a bunch of fun socks, hang or lay them out for guests to pick and choose their favorites!

Cookies, chocolates and candies have always been a go-to for wedding favors. They are simple and easy to do. Spice it up a bit! These delicious french macarons on lollipop sticks are so unique with their adorable paper boxes to add some protection to these great favors.

Looking for something more personalized? How about something homemade... Make your own olive oil! Make your own cookies, chocolates, soap, candies and other great things! The homemade wedding favor ideas are endless.

Intimate Weddings

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Intimate weddings allow for a variety of fun seating options! We love these comfortable couches, chairs and loveseats as guest seating for your smaller wedding. These seats will make our guests feel right at home with these cozy chairs.

With a smaller wedding it is simple to splurge on things that are the most important - like cake! This dessert table with homemade pies, and cupcakes is perfect for an intimate wedding. You could get your grandma to make her famous apple and cherry pie, maybe your aunt makes killer cupcakes! When your family and friends can add their own personalization to your wedding it makes the day that much more intimate and memorable.

If you are having a destination wedding with only both of your sets of parents, a simple decoration and a couple of your closest friends and family makes the perfect setting for a simple, romantic and intimate wedding. You can celebrate with the ones you keep closest to you and they can share in the moment as well!

Homemade wedding favors are the best! Whip up your best batches of cookies in place of a candy bar for a more personalized gift for your guests. Yum! Or make your own infused alcohol or limoncello with creative tags.

Whimsical Weddings

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

Be whimsical, be different, be colorful! Many of the things you see on this blog post are so easy to DIY! The adorable bride and groom string signs are simple! All you need to do is nail the letters into a piece of wood and go crazy with colorful string!

For extremely unique and whimsical touches to your wedding, snag up a box of plastic zoo animals and spray paint them a stand-out color and attach them to your guest's name cards!

Save money by making your own DIY vases from old water glasses, fun thrift store vases or mason jars. You save big on floral expenses when you use your own glassware! The one of a kind vases will take your centerpieces to the next level and your guests will be complimenting your creative genius all night.

Another easy DIY would be to make these adorable hanging circles. To make these, just grab some scraps of lace from a fabric store and pull them tight over a cross-stitching circle. Simple and inexpensive!

Whimsical weddings are colorful and full of life! Spice up your bouquet with various pops of color and fun ribbons tied into the gorgeous bouquets.

For an added surprise for your guests, request for multilayer wedding cake with a bunch of different colors.

Ombre Weddings

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

The ombre hairstyle has become popular over the past few years and has sneaked its way into the wedding world. The DIY Bride is becoming the most popular bride in the industry. Give your wedding the touch of personalization it needs by having your bridesmaids get together to help you make your wedding dreams a reality.

The pink ombre butterfly above is extremely simple to make. Head to your local craft or scrap-booking store and pick up a paper cut out stamp of the shape of your liking - then get some thicker card-stock of various shades of your color palette to punch out the designs and get that ombre look. Once they are all ready, glue the shapes down to a poster board in the shape of your choosing and voila!

Ombre themes can even be achieved by using flowers! See what types of accommodations can be made with your florist and what colors of flowers they have in season to create the ombre look. The aisle runner itself can be sprinkled with flowers of various colors or event dip dye the aisle runner to match your colors!

Who knew you could make an ombre bouquet! Subtle changes in flower color can give you the fading in color you've been dreaming of!

Mismatched bridesmaids have started to become popular in the more recent years. Traditionally, all of the bridesmaids wore the exact same dress style in the same color - however, we are finding that more and more brides are breaking free of that idea and branching out to have their own unique and personalized wedding that they dreamed of. A great way to start the ombre bridesmaid is to start with the maid of honor. Do you want her in the darkest of the color family or the lightest? Go from there when choosing how to lay out the colors for your girls!

It is simple to get the faded ombre look on your wedding cake. This cake was frosted in white or ivory then sprayed with food coloring to achieve this great cake!

Guestbook Alternatives

Tuesday, November 4, 2014

What is a guestbook really doing? It is creating and building memories! Guestbooks were incorporated into weddings to acknowledge the presence of guests at the event! The bride and groom could then look back on who was a part of their big day. The Jenga guestbook (above) is a fun way to remember your wedding. Each piece you pull is a little memory!

We love this handmade wooden state guestbook. This would look great hanging in your house and each time you pass by you can look at each person's name!

Guestbooks with date ideas or bucket list ideas are gaining popularity in the wedding world. Allow your guests to give you their best advice for married life with these fun guestbook alternatives.

If you are a puzzle fanatic like we are you will love this idea - get a puzzle made out of a picture from your engagement shoot and have each guest sign a piece of the puzzle!

For those who are tech-savvy, consider a guest blog! We have never seen anything like this - guests can record a video message for the bride and groom to see later on! This way you can remember everyone at the wedding and what a great time they have had.

Wedding Cake Alternatives

Thursday, October 30, 2014

Everyone loves cake and desserts - typically guests are served a slice of cake for dessert and that is that! Excite your guests with your awesome wedding cake alternative. No plates or forks? What more could you ask for? This stunning french macaron wedding cake is so unique! Ask your bakery for color options to match your wedding palette to get this great look!

Breakaway from cake pops and make pie pops! They are simply adorable and look absolutely delightful. Pops are great for single servings and easy clean up! With cake pops you can offer a variety of flavors and colors for your guests to choose from.

Creating tiers of cake pops or pie pops creates a traditional wedding cake illusion. You and your spouse can still feed each other these cute pops with ease and without the mess of stuffing each others faces with sticky frosting and crumbles on your dress.

If you aren't into the traditional wedding cake then consider a large flat cheesecake! This is totally nontraditional and your guests will love the change in pace compared to all the other wedding cakes they have tried.

If your wedding is in the morning and you don't feel like having dessert for breakfast opt for gigantic Belgium waffles! YUM. Or even a doughnut cake! Doughnut cakes give guests the option to choose different flavors and will stand out from any other wedding they have been to.

If single serving pie pops aren't your thing - choose a few different sizes of your favorite types of pies! Stacking pies on different tiers looks bridal but adds your own personality into the mix.
